Fresh Finds: Gladiator Sandals from UGG Australia

Would you like some fresh catch for the season? Well, how about gladiator sandals from none other than the famous sheepskin boot brand, UGG Australia?

UGG Sechura and UGG Cypris

While browsing for the latest gladiator sandals, I came across these recent releases of UGG sandals and couldn’t help but do a double take. I literally thought my eyes were fooling me, but clearly, it was the brand’s name on the sandals; and that alone piqued my interest.

UGG offers other types of shoes aside from its popular sheepskin boots, but this latest issue of gladiator sandals is relatively new for the brand. So let us see if their gladiator sandals are as good as their sheepskin boots, shall we?

UGG released two very different styles of gladiator sandals – the Sechura and the Cypris.

UGG Sechura

Here’s my two cents on the Sechura sandals – these look too much like Birkenstock sandals rather than a pair of gladiator sandals. Plus, it looks too casual and masculine.

Would I wear them? A definite “no”, but would you? I would love to hear your thoughts.

UGG Cypris

As for the Cypris gladiator sandals, I find these shoes impressive enough to meet my UGG gladiator sandal expectations.

My favorite variant is the Cypris sandal in Pale Gold Metallic Leather – simply feminine to look at. And I love how UGG decorated it with metal embellishments on the T of the sandal to add a touch a glam  and brighten up the shoes.

Will I wear these Cypris sandals? I think my answer to that question is pretty obvious.

Both UGG gladiator sandals can be purchased through Zappos.com.

Kourtney Kardashian’s Pre-Birth and Post-Pregnancy Footwear Choice: Report Signature Antonia

These pictures of Kourtney Kardashian were taken just a few months before she gave birth to Mason Dash, her son with beau Scott Disick:

And these were taken also just a short period after she gave birth to her son:

You can see in these pictures how Kourtney’s pregnancy and post-pregnancy style slowly evolves from loose and casual to more dressy and structured. But even as Kourtney ditches the oversized tees and shapeless tops for blouses and fitted shorts, one thing remains unchanged: her footwear.

Kourtney chose to wear comfortable roman sandals throughout part of her pregnancy. Apparently liking the style, she went ahead and bought the black color of the same sandal to pair with her post-pregnancy looks.

Kourtney’s choice is the Report Signature Antonia Studded Flat Sandal:

This deceptively simple roman sandal features a trio of buckled straps and a studded t-strap. It has a back zipper for easy slip-on-and-off wear.

For a sandal that Kourtney Kardashian deems comfortable enough to wear during and after pregnancy, it’s a real steal at it’s $59.95 price. Purchase through Zappos.com.

Bracelets and Anklets on Roman Sandals?

Posted in 7 For All Mankind, Ankle Strap, Bracelet Strap, Embellished, Flats, Giuseppe Zanotti, Metallic, Steven, Thong, Zappos.com, Zippered on March 6th, 2010 by Erika – Be the first to comment

Bracelets and/or anklets for straps – is this the new thing in roman sandals?

New sandal arrivals are showing more and more of this style and here are just 3 of them:

Giuseppe Zanotti E00327s

They brought out the bling for these Giuseppe Zanotti roman sandals. And for a whopping $1,360, there better be real gold or silver on those bracelet straps!

7 For All Mankind Caprice

Here’s something a little bit more subdued (but still relatively expensive at $250.00). The “bracelets” are decorated with sparkly studs to give an illusion of opulence and to probably justify that 250-dollar price tag. But it’s not very successful on these roman sandals because don’t they look like hair ties from afar? There are scrunchies even sparklier than these.

Steven Atone

These sandals from Steven by Steve Madden are the cheapest of the three but this is the only one that doesn’t look like you’re wearing your mother’s jewelry or hair ties on your ankles. The antique-finish studs aren’t glaringly calling for attention – except of course if you purchase the yellow or red colors of these sandals. $119.95.

Are you liking the bracelet strap trend on roman sandals? Or do you think bracelets should stick to staying on arms and wrists where they belong?

Purchase the ones featured here on Zappos.com.

5 Oscar Worthy Gladiator-Inspired Sandals You Can Wear with Your Red Carpet Gown

The 2010 Oscars is coming up in two days (March 7) and fashionistas and fashion critics alike are all pretty much excited to see Hollywood’s crème de la crème strut their designer gowns and shoes on the red carpet. I have no doubt that one of the main topics this coming Sunday will be “who’s wearing whom (as in whose gown is she wearing)?”.

If you’re one of the few who were able to score bleacher tickets inside Kodak Theatre for the event, then be sure to dress your best because you will be walking on the red carpet, after all.

Glamorous to perfection is how you should be – from your gown, to your purse, to your shoes.

If you haven’t picked out your shoes yet, remember to choose one that covers the heel or at least part of it.

Why? Because of two simple reasons: one, it is more formal to cover the heel; and two, the hem of your gown could easily get caught between your foot and the open-heeled shoe as you walk. Now you wouldn’t want to keep on pulling and fixing your gown every time that happens, would you?

If you cannot picture the kind of shoes I am describing, here is a sample:

Calvin Klein Pallas

Although the Calvin Klein Pallas is a great looking sandal, it is not ideal for your long gown because of its open heel.

If you need recommendations on what shoes to wear for the Oscars, here is a list of gladiator-inspired sandals we feel are worthy enough to step on the Academy Awards’ red carpet, all priced at less than US$150:

Jessica Simpson Alaya, US$79

Charles by Charles David Prissy Heel, on sale for US$145

GUESS Holda 2, on sale for US$82

Sam Edelman Nilla Heel, on sale for US$103

Promiscuous Charming, on sale for US$76
