I was browsing through the latest sandals to hit Zappos.com’s virtual shelves when I stumbled upon these gladiator shoes from Earth.

Personally, I am not a fan of boat-shaped sandals like this one, but what caught my attention was the scalloped cutout detailing on the center.  The dainty artwork provided a nice feminine touch to the masculine-looking pair.

Now although aesthetically these shoes may not be as attractive as other gladiator sandals, it comes with a more functional purpose – it can be used for your walking workout.

The Earth Gladiola uses the Kalso Negative Heel Technology, a design that helps strengthen the body, promote good posture, and tone the legs and buttocks by subtly  shifting the body’s weight onto the heels as you walk.

Unconventionally shaped and may even take some getting used to wearing, the Gladiola sandals are actually comfortable to wear as it features a form fitting foot bed and reinforced arch support.

Altogether, I would have to say that these shoes aren’t bad. Although it may  not be made for fashion, it is a good alternative to workout shoes. Besides, there is something appealing and refreshing about allowing your feet to breathe and stay cool as you exercise.

Would I wear the Gladiolas for fashion? The answer would be a clear no.  Would I do my walking exercise in it? Why not? In fact, if I want to work out all day while I’m at home, I can simply put these on as my house slippers.
