Nicole Kidman…In Chunky Gladiator Sandals?

So, have you ever seen Nicole Kidman wear chunky gladiator sandals? Let me guess, your answer would most probably be either a “no”, or a “not yet”. If your answer is a “yes”, then you are one of the very few.

Nicole Kidman strikes me as someone who wouldn’t go for a pair of chunky gladiator sandals. Her much too feminine persona somehow doesn’t go with the tough chic look that gladiator sandals project.

So I was more than just mildly surprised when I saw this picture:

Nicole Kidman

Tell me, do you think it looks good on her? Or should I rephrase and ask, does she look good in the shoes?

I give her credit for choosing a nude color; not only is it more feminine to look at (compared to dark brown or black), but at least her legs still look long (as the straps blend well with her skin).

But that’s just about all I can say, because honestly, I think the chunky gladiator sandals are looking a little out of place. I feel like she should be wearing something else, like a pair of peep-toes or a pair of nude pumps.

Please don’t get me wrong, the shoes are beautiful. It’s the kind with  curved cut-out straps that swirl at the center, not the usual gladiator sandals with horizontal straps. But Nicole plus the sandals? Not working out.

What do you think?

On another note, if you are into the curved cut-out straps of her sandals, here are some interesting look-a-likes:

Here’s a picture of Kesha attending the 2010 Grammys:

Kesha

Not exactly dressed properly for the event (she was in fact, named as one of the Worst Dressed), but I give her credit for wearing a good-looking pair of T-strap Roman sandals. She rocks in those shoes (never mind the outfit)! Not the usual T-strap if I might say, instead of the usual T, this one is shaped like a solid V or inverted triangle. If you want the shoes, you may purchase any of the following:

Who Wore It Better? Steve Madden Bliz Roman Sandals

Ashley Tisdale Vs. Jessica Stroup

Ashley Tisdale is with her music director boyfriend Scott Speer at the LAX International Airport in this photo dated Nov. 14, 2009.  She shows us how to put together a relaxed yet stylish travel outfit: a black boat neck pocket tee with acid wash jeans, and finish off the look with accessories such as red Ray-Ban wayfarers, a Fendi Zucca Spy bag, and Steven by Steve Madden Bliz roman sandals. Ashley coolly went through security and chilled out with the boyfriend at the departure lounge in this 80s-inspired getup.

Jessica Stroup wears the Steven by Steve Madden Bliz roman sandals as Erin Silver, her character in the TV show 90210. Worn clearly for a scene filmed at the beach, Jessica matches the studded roman sandals with a Marc by Marc Jacobs one piece chevron swimsuit and Current/Elliot trash wash cut off shorts. She carries around a requisite bottle of water to keep cool on that hot summer day.

Each outfit looks great for each occasion, but we have to give it to Ashley Tisdale for this one. Even though she is head to toe in 80s clothes, she manages to make everything look up to date. The roman sandals are a great choice for traveling, as they’re easier to pull on and off than let’s say sneakers or boots. Also, Jessica Stroup’s choice to wear studded roman sandals at the beach is a bit too much – imagine the weird tan lines after an afternoon of wearing them.

So who wore it  better for you? Ashley Tisdale or Jessica Stroup?

Hillary Duff in Steve Madden Chancee Sandal

Posted in Hilary Duff, Steve Madden on August 23rd, 2009 by Caesar – Be the first to comment

Hillary Duff was spotted arriving at LAX airport, wearing a simply fabulous ensemble of black and whites, and finishing it up with her Steve Madden Chancee sandal. This pair of leather roman sandals added a flare of punk to her demure look, setting her far apart from the teeny image of her Disney shows that we got used to. The look she came up with was a simple and toughie yet laid back appeal, making her look very fresh and unaffected by her trip’s jetlag.

Aside from radiating with beauty and grace, Hillary Duff’s comfort is also clearly evident as she treads in her durable roman sandals. The Chancee features the roman inspired, classic thong style design that runs with gold studs throughout. The thin straps across the front leaves your foot exposed, letting it breath, while the rounded toe and soft footbed gives ensures fit and comfort. The back zipper lets you slip it on and off easily, with its golden zipline and zipper adds that extra glamorous look from behind.
