I have always admired Selena Gomez’s elegant red carpet style that when I saw these photos, it totally caught me by surprise.

Selena Gomez performs for the America’s Got Talent audience, July 15

That’s how Selena looked when she performed at the America’s Got Talent show last July 15.

What do you think? Vampy or fashion victim?

Personally, I don’t think she’s a fashion victim, but the outfit does look a little off. Don’t get me wrong, the dress isn’t bad and those metallic red and silver gladiator sandals are stunning but the two don’t seem to work together.

You know how some things are meant to be? Like they complement? Well, this combo isn’t one of them.

Again, the sandals are quite pretty. It got me quite interested that I went looking for it online. I tried and tried and tried to ID it, but couldn’t find any information on it. I think it would look better with a dress that’s more body skimming though; something sexy rather than the girly and flouncy balloon dress she wore it with.

Because I currently have no clue where you can get it (Selena’s sandals), I am giving you the next best thing instead – gladiator sandals in red hot red.

You want a sneak peek at what Blake Lively (a.k.a. Serena Van Der Woodsen) will be wearing in some of next season’s Gossip Girl episodes?

Check out these pictures:

Serena will be sporting the maxi dress and Roman sandals look next season. It looks lovely on her, of course. Being tall and slender, you can practically put her in anything and she will look good.

As for the sandals she wore, they both look interesting but I prefer the second pair with cutouts on it. There is no information on it yet but if you like Blake’s maxi style, you can get it with these:

Elan International Long Maxi Dress, US$55 (BoutiqueToYou.com); BCBGeneration Granger Sandals, US$89 (Zappos.com)

Alternative Apparel Crawford Washed Maxi Dress, US$55 (BoutiqueToYou.com); Gabrielle Rocha Maxy Sandals, US$73 (Zappos.com)

Kate Bosworth: Baby Clothes and Lace Up Gladiators

Posted in Crisscross, Flats, Kate Bosworth, Lace-Up, Shoes.com, Type Z, Via Spiga, Zappos.com on May 12th, 2010 by Roselle – Be the first to comment

It seems Kate Bosworth is a fan of lace up gladiators. We saw her wearing a pair to the Coachella event (click here to read article), and just last May 2, she was spotted in another while shopping for baby clothes in Soho, New York.

Yes, baby clothes. And no, she’s not pregnant.

Kate was looking fresh as a flower in bloom in a white printed knee length dress paired with tan lace up flat gladiators.

It’s a good thing she chose light neutral sandals to go with the dress because had it been darker, it would not only have been unflattering to look at, but the celebrity style icon would have made her first fashion mistake as well.

Love the look? It’s easy to copy. But for your sake, wear a shorter dress so you can wear it with darker sandals.

Of course, don’t forget to pair your dress with lace up “glads”. Try the following:

Heidi Klum Walks Kids to Karate Class in Cage Roman Sandals

These photos were taken a while back (September 15, 2009 to be exact), but how can anyone resist not ogling at the amazing Balmain cage roman sandals that Heidi Klum was wearing that day?

Simply gorgeous.

What makes these sandals fit so perfectly are the elastic straps. Yep, you read that right, the straps that appear to be leather are not made of cowhide but of elasticized rubber bands. The heel, the sole, and the rest of the sandals are made out of leather, but the straps are all stretchy fabric.

These Balmains are also available in a high-heeled version, which makes them look even fiercer:

The real Balmains go for nearly $900. Of course, we went hunting for some similar styles at (much) lower prices. These are arranged according to how similar they look to the Balmains:

GUESS Designa, $109.95

Baby Phat Marianela, now only $86.13

Type Z Hennelly, now only $77.60

Kinda cool how the shoes that look most similar to the Balmains are also the cheapest.

The cage footwear style is one 2009 trend that we wouldn’t mind seeing more of this year in 2010.

Rihanna and Her Lace-Up Roman Sandals Take a Trip To Mexico

Posted in Promiscuous, Rihanna, Type Z, Zappos.com on January 15th, 2010 by Roselle – Be the first to comment

Early this January, Rihanna was spotted in Mexico with  L.A. Dodger boyfriend, Matt Kemp, both taking a break from the buzz and the cold winter weather. The lovebirds were easily spotted as they drew attention to themselves by wearing large Mexican hats. I guess they were simply enjoying, and couldn’t care less whether they would be seen or not.

Ri-Ri was looking sexy as usual, cooling herself under the hot sun with some ice-cream cone, wearing only a thin cover-up to mask the red bikini that she paired with some lace-up Roman sandals.

You can tell from the picture that she was simply there to unwind and enjoy because she was even too lazy to lace up those sandals! Well, what’s the use of lacing up if you’re going to dip into the pool every few minutes anyway, right?

It’s a nice pair though, slightly daintier looking because of the lace-up strings, not like the usual Roman sandals with thick multi-straps.
