Are you wondering what to buy this season? Well, how about if we just tell you? Get a pair of thin tube strap roman sandals. They’re daintier to look at, and definitely a great change from the usual thick and masculine-looking straps we have been seeing for the past few seasons.

Here are 6 thin tube strap sandals which might interest you:

Turquoise Blue and Chartreuse Yellow: Hot Colors for Roman Sandals this Spring

We’re on a color high here at My Roman Sandals! This article began as a blog post about colorful roman sandals but in my quest to search for them, two very different hues slowly started coming out as the most used: turquoise blue and chartreuse yellow.

Pantone declared turquoise as the color of 2010 so I wasn’t surprised to see it on a lot of roman sandals and other types of shoes. But chartreuse? Mimosa, a shade of yellow, was the Pantone color of 2009, so maybe they were leftover fabric or something. Anyway, I’m not one to turn down yellow especially on such happy-looking spring sandals, and besides, yellow does look good when set against blue.

Which do you prefer – chartreuse yellow roman sandals … :

Some of these sandals have both yellow and blue colors (like the Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Murray Zip Thong Sandals) which makes deciding over which color to pick even harder!

Namas and Nakia Matiko Sandals: Perfect for Spring

Posted in Ankle Strap, Cut-outs, Embellished, Flats, Matika, Overstock.com, T-strap, Thong on April 10th, 2010 by Roselle – Be the first to comment

I was going through the collection of sandals available at Overstock.com when I stumbled upon these two colorful Matiko creations:

Namas Sandals, US$55

Nakia Sandals, US$

I love how Matiko used bright colors to come up with these tribal themed sandals, so perfect for spring!

The Namas features five (5) colors of beads arranged artfully to create a design reminiscent of Native American Indian markings. The bright colors are just so fresh to look at; a great change from all the jewel tones and earthy hues used by most gladiator sandals. I also love how it uses a sling back strap instead of the usual ankle strap; less height-cutting for a change.

The Nakia on the other hand, only features one bright color. But the lack of color has not stopped this pair from looking ethnic. The yellow cutouts are strategically arranged with the dark brown to come up with a geometric and tribal looking pattern. The color combination is also very striking. Plus, it’s a pair of thong sandals; definitely more flattering to wear.

With the Namas priced only at US$55 and Nakia priced only at US$50, these sandals are definitely great value for money so make sure you buy a pair this season!

Julianne Moore’s Lend Me a Tenor Style Mishap

It was actually while searching for stuff to write on the Olsen twins that I came across this picture of Julianne Moore.

Julianne Moore

(Lend Me a Tenor opening, April 4)

The seasoned actress was spotted attending the Lend Me a Tenor opening last Sunday, April 4, along with other celebs like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Stanley Tucci, and Justin Bartha.

Now I appreciate Julianne’s effort to look young, tough, and trendy by donning a pair of gladiator sandals, but I seriously don’t like her dress. I mean, what was she thinking? If it was a stylist who pushed her to wear that dress with those ankle high sandals, then that stylist should be fired.

I don’t want to keep on repeating it but I think I have to for this post. The first and most important rule when wearing a pair of gladiator sandals is to always match it with a short outfit.

Sad to say, Julianne Moore’s dress, though it falls slightly above the knee, is still too long. Plus, it is so shapeless! The whole look is so disproportionate and unbalanced; definitely a fashion disaster.

Now if I were to correct Julianne’s style mishap, I would ask her to don a short dark number like the ones below.

Twenty8Twelve Depp Dress, US$255

Black Halo Ariel Mini Dress, US$375

The short dark dress will show off her legs and luminous skin, and the tough looking sandals will be a great complement to all the sexiness.

Now if you want to make this look your own, be sure to use a sexy short dress like the ones above, and strap on any of the following gladiator booties:

Boutique 9 Driven Open Toe Strappy Booties, US$190

Halle Berry Wears T-Strap Thong Sandals

Posted in Dolce Vita, Flats, Frye, Halle Berry, K. Jacques, Shopbop.com, T-strap, Thong, Tory Burch, Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent on April 6th, 2010 by Roselle – 1 Comment

Actress Halle Berry has been spotted more often recently. Last month, she was seen buying a Radio Flyer Tricycle for her daughter’s birthday; and just  a few days ago, she was spotting visiting some friends in LA.

Halle Berry (March 14)

Halle Berry (April 2)

(all phots care of Just Jared)

In both occasions, she kept it comfy, straightforward, simple, and sexy by wearing a pair of t-strap thong sandals.

The pair on her may seem ordinary, but it is a classic and will never go out of style. It has a more universal appeal compared to the traditional gladiator design, and definitely easier to match with as well.

For example, in the first picture, Halle wore the sandals with a more casual outfit – plain tee and cargo pants. But in the second picture, she paired it with something a little more dressed up – black leggings and a multicolored chiffon top.

Because these shoes  are multipurpose, having at least one pair  in your closet is a must. The good thing is it isn’t hard to find. Check out the following t-strap thong sandals from Shopbop.com:
