Actress Carey Mulligan has been coming out in hit after hit red carpet looks recently and this latest one she wore at the Directors Guild of America Awards last January 30 is definitely another one for the books:

I don’t know if it’s the pixie cut, the awkward posture, the cute facial expression or a combination of all of these things, but Carey can pull off these quirky looks which very few actresses can. If Carey continues on with this fashion streak (and continues showcasing her amazing acting skils), people will soon stop calling her as “Shia Le Beouf’s girlfriend” and start referencing the accolades she’ll be raking in in the future.

In the picture above, Carey Mulligan is wearing a one-shoulder dress from the Lanvin Spring 2010 RTW Collection and Gianvito Rossi Organza Ankle Strap Sandals. Check out the close-ups:

It’s details like unfinished edges and foot-embracing shoes that win it for Carey.

You can’t quite see the leather and organza in the picture, so here is a separate product pic of the Gianvito Rossi Organza Ankle Strap Sandals:

Aren’t they just gorgeous? The sheerness, the leather trim, and those black ribbons that thread through metal eyelets really up the sexy factor on these sandals.

Although it’s tempting to search for sheer strappy sandals too, it’s really the construction, the shoe shape, and the straps placement that make these sandals so attractive on Carey. The way the shoe meets at the center lengthens the foot and adds height despite the thickness of the straps. Here are 2 other sandals that seem to embrace the foot too:

Who Wore It Better? Steve Madden Bliz Roman Sandals

Ashley Tisdale

Jessica Stroup

Ashley Tisdale Vs. Jessica Stroup

Ashley Tisdale is with her music director boyfriend Scott Speer at the LAX International Airport in this photo dated Nov. 14, 2009.  She shows us how to put together a relaxed yet stylish travel outfit: a black boat neck pocket tee with acid wash jeans, and finish off the look with accessories such as red Ray-Ban wayfarers, a Fendi Zucca Spy bag, and Steven by Steve Madden Bliz roman sandals. Ashley coolly went through security and chilled out with the boyfriend at the departure lounge in this 80s-inspired getup.

Jessica Stroup wears the Steven by Steve Madden Bliz roman sandals as Erin Silver, her character in the TV show 90210. Worn clearly for a scene filmed at the beach, Jessica matches the studded roman sandals with a Marc by Marc Jacobs one piece chevron swimsuit and Current/Elliot trash wash cut off shorts. She carries around a requisite bottle of water to keep cool on that hot summer day.

Each outfit looks great for each occasion, but we have to give it to Ashley Tisdale for this one. Even though she is head to toe in 80s clothes, she manages to make everything look up to date. The roman sandals are a great choice for traveling, as they’re easier to pull on and off than let’s say sneakers or boots. Also, Jessica Stroup’s choice to wear studded roman sandals at the beach is a bit too much – imagine the weird tan lines after an afternoon of wearing them.

So who wore it  better for you? Ashley Tisdale or Jessica Stroup?

Vanessa Hudgens: Fresh-Out-of-Bed Sexy in Gladiator Wedges and Zac Efron’s Shirt

I have always liked Vanessa Hudgens ever since she came out in High School Musical. A fresh and unique face with a sweet disposition, plus a very hunky boyfriend named Zac Efron, you can’t help but be a fan.

Oftentimes, pictures of her show a sweet girl, but these stills of her (courtesy of Just Jared) totally changed my opinion. She was spotted shopping (obviously in Diesel) wearing only what looked like Zac Efron’s shirt and a pair of gladiator wedges.

The outfit, along with her completely wild but luxurious hair, simply made her look like she just woke up from a satisfying night with Zac and decided to do some early morning shopping, no shower needed. Definitely downright sexy.

The gladiator wedge sandal is the reason why I’m writing this article by the way, so let’s get down to the details. It’s actually a pair by Cynthia Vincent called the Twelfth St. Luella Zip Wedge Sandals. The platform thickness is just right, about an inch, so don’t worry about tripping in these shoes. The wedge heel on the other hand, is at 4 inches, just high enough to make your legs look really sexy as you wear it.

You actually don’t need a stylist to come up with Vanessa Hudgen’s look, just grab your boyfriend’s shirt and wear these sandals. You can buy it at Singer22.com, and you have the option to choose between two colors – Black or Cognac.

Elizabeth and James Roman Sandals from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen

In a recent unexpected excessive outburst of (possibly unwanted) creative energy, celebrities nowadays feel the need to be more than just one thing. We’ve got actors who are compelled to sing, models wanting to act, and the inevitable celebs who think they can design. Le sigh. It started out as a great idea, but now that we’ve got celebrities launching their clothing lines left and right, it’s really becoming oversaturated, overexposed, and just plain over.

They should really take a cue from the celebs who practically invented the celebrity clothing line, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Although having had a clothing line of their own since they were, well, born, MK&A didn’t rest on their laurels. As soon as they had legal access to the fortune that they built, they rebranded themselves as mini moguls, style icons, and a fashion force to be reckoned with. They launched their couture label The Row in 2006, and its success prompted the twins to follow it up with another successful clothing line called Elizabeth and James.

MK&A’s first foray into shoes in the Elizabeth and James line include a number of roman sandals, including these Elizabeth and James Edge:

They also have flat roman sandals, the Elizabeth and James Becky:

Of course, MK&A’s famed shoe collection includes very high heels, so these 4 1/4″-high roman sandal-inspired heels fit right iin:

Elizabeth and James Julie

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen made sure to have a little bit of something for everyone in their clothing line.

Here’s another MK&A trait that other celebrities with clothing lines should take a cue from: model your own clothing!

Emily Blunt Wears Stone Embellished Roman Sandals

Posted in BCBGeneration, Diba USA, Elie Tahari, Emily Blunt, Heels.com, Sam Edelman, Shoebuy.com, Zappos.com on January 23rd, 2010 by Roselle – Be the first to comment

Recently engaged Emily Blunt was spotted wearing a pair of cute stone embellished flat Roman sandals while heading off to the airport. Her look was comfy casual in ripped jeans under a sweater vest and a long sleeved knit, just the right ensemble when you’re up for a long flight ahead.

Wearing flat sandals is the best alternative to wearing sneakers when you’re traveling. It is dressier but still gives you the comfort you need while you do heavy luggage lifting. Sneakers are a little too casual, and the outfits you can pair it with are quite limited. With flat sandals, you can either dress up or dress down. Either way, you will look sexier too.

I was able to find a couple of stone embellished Roman sandals just like Emily’s. I hope you like this selection of mine. I made it a point to choose ones that aren’t too pricey, though I couldn’t resist including the Elie Tahari Mabel Sandal, which costs US$302.
